|    How to bring down Obamacare.    |
|    26 Feb 11 23:50:00    |
I have mentioned before that I oppose the mandate. Not because I        think there is something inherently wrong in it, but because I        don't see how they are going to come up with an insurance policy        all the uninsured can afford.               Ok, they say they will subsidize the poor... but...               You right wingers have rejoiced at every attempt to bring down        Obamacare by finding the mandate unconstitutional. Big mistake.        If you want to bring down Obamacare, demand that the mandate        stay in there.               I was just looking at median income stats for another purpose,        when I realized how they apply to insurance. Nearly half the        working single mothers in this country earned less than $30K/yr        as of 2008. How much can a single mother spare to pay for        insurance with an income of less than $30K/yr. I will say,        typically, nothing at all.               Half the working single mothers in this country will have to        receive 100% subsidized medical insurance for the mandate to        work.               Probably much more, since even above $30K/yr you have quite a        ways to go before they can afford any significant amount.               If you remove the mandate Obamacare will still go into effect.        It will be more expensive without the mandate, but still better        than nothing. Over the years, I predict a very few years, they        will work it out, and bring back the mandate in one form or        another, and find a way to make it work. You will be stuck with        Obamacare as designed, but improved, and it will work and be so        popular you will never get rid of it.               If you leave the mandate in, it will go into effect in 2014,        onlyh they will have to confront the low income problem head on.        I don't believe anyone in congress has any idea how bad things        are for single mothers in this country, but they will learn in a        hurry.               So, they will have to either find some miracle fix, or back off.               As I see it, that is the only real hope you have to stop        Obamacare. Your fixation on the courts is a fantasy, a loser        fantasy.               Why do I offer this solution? I said before, I oppose the        mandate because so many can't afford it, can't pay the bills no        matter how you work it.               So, I want them to confront the reality of low income health        care right up front. Have it out, and I believe they can make it        work.               In this case, we both get our chance. If they can't make it        work, you get rid of Obamacare. If they can make it work, we get        national health care that works. The real thing.               One will turn out to be right, but this is the only way I see to        force the issue, and find out which will work right from the        beginning.               Maybe they will have to really consider a plan based on the        existing national health care systems, most of which are based        on private insurance company. Remember, even the Swiss system,        the most expensive national health care system in the        industrialized world at 12% of GDP, compared to the US system        at 20% of GDP projected soon, will save this country $1 trillion        a year.               That's enough to solve most of our economic problems with ease.                            BOB KLAHN bob.klahn@sev.org http://home.toltbbs.com/bobklahn              ... Don't tell me you are pro-life if you don't support health care for all.       --- Via Silver Xpress V4.5/P [Reg]        * Origin: Since 1991 And Were Still Here! DOCSPLACE.TZO.COM (1:123/140)    |
