That leaves expensive       infrastructure sitting idle while loan repayments loom.               This isnt an isolated case. As we reported recently, Chinas rapid AI       infrastructure expansion - encouraged by state policy - has led to       overbuilding.               Hundreds of data center projects were launched across the country in 2023 and       2024, but actual usage has lagged behind expectations . It's no surprise       therefore that developers are now offloading hardware to reduce losses.               Although overcapacity is likely at least part of the reason behind the       selloff, some operators may simply be clearing space for newer technology.               With interest moving from large-scale model training to real-time inference,       older training-focused systems may no longer be as relevant as they once        were.               Combined with the latest US export restrictions, which affect chips like       Nvidias H20, Chinese data centers will be looking at offloading old hardware       and shifting to inference-ready setups.              ======================================================================       Link to news story:       https://www.techradar.com/pro/data-centers-in-china-are-dumping-rare-48gb-nvid       ia-rtx-4090d-gpus-for-nearly-usd6-000-but-the-exact-reason-remains-a-mystery              $$       --- SBBSecho 3.20-Linux        * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105)       SEEN-BY: 105/81 106/201 128/187 129/305 153/7715 154/110 218/700 226/30       SEEN-BY: 227/114 229/110 111 114 206 300 307 317 400 426 428 470 664       SEEN-BY: 229/700 705 266/512 291/111 320/219 322/757 342/200 396/45       SEEN-BY: 460/58 712/848 902/26 2320/0 105 3634/12 5075/35       PATH: 2320/105 229/426           |
