   Modern isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm trying to convince my wife that we   
   need to disconnect ourselves (literally) from the electric company and start   
   using a wood stove and a gas generator (and a lot less electric.)   
      
   To me, the $300 electric bill is a wake up call.
