I have made a similar mistake once or twice, by forgetting the shebang line in a Python script. The symptom was, as soon as I ran the script, my terminal session would completely hang. Took me a while to figure out what was going on, the first time: the system thought it was a shell script, and the first non-comment line happened to be an “import” statement. As you may or may not know, there is a command in the ImageMagick suite named “import”, for doing screen captures. The hang was actually the program waiting for me to select the window/region to capture. I see that ImageMagick is now moving to prefix all its commands as subcommands of a common “magick” command. I guess reducing pollution of the global command-name space is, in general, a Good Thing ... --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05 * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2) |
