   One sentence, but you're right.  It should have been two.  And no question   
   mark at the end of the 2nd sentence.  Maybe it's rhetorical.

   With some ingenuity thrown in, which probably explains the "+".   
      
   The one thing I disliked about English class was doing book reports.  I didn't   
   know the reason for it then, but it managed to sink in after I finished   
   school. We did reports on just about everything to the point that I came close   
   to getting writer's cramp, but I wasn't the only one.
