I just had to take a minute to share some good fortune with y'all. I've been       working on getting into IT work the entire time that I've been here, which is       going on 7-8 months now. Although I've courted a few recruiters, I've really       had no luck whatsoever. I managed to get one food service job, and the place       was so terrible that I was thankful when they fired me for getting sick during       my probationary period.        So I've been getting social assistance, being a single parent, and looking       for work full time. Like 30-40 hours a week, quite literally. Nothing, week       after week, month after month. Then today I'm supposed to hear back about a       job that said they'd hire me, based on whether or not I can get a clearance       badge to work in the secure area of the airport, and that works out *does happy       dance*. Just got word on that today.        The other thing that I was waiting for today was a phone interview for an IT       position that I was recommended for by another developer that I know. Lo and       behold, _it frigging worked out_. I can't drop any names or anything, but I've       been tossed a couple of projects to work on with somebody else, and provided       those [relatively simple] ones work out, a lot more work will be coming my way       on an awesome contractual basis, as well.        I just had to share this with everyone. It's been really hard keeping my       spirits up with this, and fighting sickness off and on, and then in one day       it's like everything changes. I'm still hedging my bets in case of disaster,       but things look really good right now. :) Funny, because one of my lazery       friends today told me that today was a good day for a Libra, and then I get all       of this wonderful info in a short duration of time, and after a damn good bike       ride, to boot. ;)        Hope y'all are doing well, also. Best wishes, everyone.               -K              -=-       Borg Burgers: We do it our way; your way is irrelevant.       --- SBBSecho 2.27-OpenBSD        * Origin: Tinfoil.synchro.net - now at FTN (1:340/200) (1:340/200)    |
