   If its the same in Texas like everywhere else, the District Attorneys (In   
   South Carolina we call them solicitors), are elected. But a quick Google   
   Search says that in Texas, the district court can remove said DA after being   
   petitioned (with hearings et al).   
      
   If I understand it correctly Perry was asking the official to resign, maybe to   
   avoid the drama such hearing would do to that office.   
      
   Still his perogative to veto any bills, remember the legislature can override   
   vetoes!   
      
   What makes this smell partisan, is that this happened in a predominantly   
   democrat county.... Perry's demand this official resigned wasnt partisan, I   
   would expect a Democrat Guvner to ask the same of a Democrat DA under   
   identical circumstances..   
      
   The problem with our Democrats Joe is they think we all cannot live without   
   them (much like that Toronto lunatic), they have saviour complexes.
