|    Classic Laptop/Palmtop?    |
|    15 Oct 11 18:13:06    |
KW> Is anyone running an old laptop/palmtop? I'm looking for        KW> something to run text-mode programs, either DOS or a        KW> cutdown Linux distro. I'd like something about the size of        KW> a netbook. I'm curious what laptops out there exist, and        KW> which have stood the test of time.               KW> I used to have an IBM Workpad Z50 which was a perfect size,        KW> but it only ran Windows CE (you could hack it to run        KW> NetBSD). There were HP 200LX and Toshiba Libretto palmtops,        KW> but they're a little too small.               KW> Any suggestions?               I have a Toshiba Portege 3110 CT PII 300mhz 192mb pc100/133        which is netbook size. Running Win ME.               An Armada 1750 originally PII 366mhz upgraded to PIII 300mhz        328mb pc100/133 which is a bit heavy laptop. Not real heavy.        Running Win ME.               A Dell C400 P3 1ghz running Win2K. 512meg ram I think. Don't        recall. Nice also netbook size.               A 133mhz Pentium so old they didn't have numbers for pentiums        yet. Can't recall the ram, not much. running Win 98 cause Win ME        won't install on a computer less than 200 mhz or so. Actually,        it will, I recently learned if you use a /something can't recall        what on the setup command.               And a couple 486dx100s with 16mb ram running Win 98 I plan to        take back to dos. Romdos probably. Eventually.                            BOB KLAHN bob.klahn@sev.org http://home.toltbbs.com/bobklahn              ...
