AB>> The first computer that I owned (though not the first        AB>> that I programmed) was a ZX-81. That was back when computers were fun.               KW> Sigh. Re-discovering the BBS has brought back memories of        KW> that "hobbyist" phase, when no one knew what the internet        KW> was, and home computers were the exception, not the rule. I        KW> remember trying to explain how a modem worked and what a        KW> BBS was, with the usual response being a sort-of blank        KW> stare.               KW> It was a LOT of fun being on the leading edge of that wave,        KW> makes me wonder exactly when it broke, and it makes me        KW> wonder what the next wave will be.               I had the TRS-80 mod I. See the tagline.               Eventually I went through a number of them. Oh, just remember,        my first was a Cosmac Elf II. An RCA chip with a hex display and        programed in hex. No storage other than ram. 256 bytes IIRC.               I had the ZX-81 in it's Timex TS-1000 version. I marveled at 4        chips being able to do it all. Still have a couple in the        storage shed.                            BOB KLAHN bob.klahn@sev.org http://home.toltbbs.com/bobklahn              ...
