   It's good to broadcast experiences like that. It could be a     
   heads-up of a new scam or an old scam that has regained a new     
   life.   
      
   For years, I'd get a phone call what sounded like a fundraiser     
   for "children in your area" and they'd name a local camp in a     
   local town where that camp is located.  It is designed to sound     
   familiar because they cite a real camp and a real town. Yet they     
   expect me to fork over a donation via credit card over the     
   phone.  They start with $25 per child.. "Can you make 4 children     
   happy?"  If I say I can't manage this year, then they suggest     
   $25 for one child.  BS.  In this day and age, it is impossible     
   to verify their claims over the phone. So, that is basically     
   what I tell them. And they usually hang up before I do.   
      
   Another one is "This is your local branch of the OPP (Ontario     
   Provincial Police) calling..." asking to place an ad in their     
   inter-family newsletter "and all funds go to a local charity".   
      
   Again.. I tell them "as exciting as all that sounds, first of     
   all, I can't be certain that you are the police, or even if that     
   newsletter is legit, or the claim for funds directed to charity     
   is legit".  And.. "besides, I can't be certain that your     
   families would even bother to interested in my business".   
      
   They seem to hang up before I do.

   I don't know how to respond to that. With a large family like     
   yours, you must certainly have many "connections" of people.
