HI I have a new IBM 50 pin SCSI HD       Type:DCHS       Theres 3 long numbers but they arent labeled would the first set of numbers be       the Model# ?       That # is: ECE29674              It has been about 6 years since I gave configured a SCSI HD but the last one       wasnt a pain!              I know the CMD HD uses ID#0 LUN#0              I didnt jumper anything except AUTO START jumper so the dang thing would spin       up, yay.       Using CMD HD UTILITIES disk I loaded LLFORMAT       I plugged in the SCSI DATA cable and power for mechanism.       I let the mechanism spin up heard it clacking and chattering for a short       while, it stopped.       I then pressed swap 8 & 9 pressed reset, then the dang error light flashed and       so did the write protect leds.              Even though the errors occured I oressed return key anyway to see if the       mechanism was recognized, no DEV0 LUN0 dagnamit.              There is a jumper for internal termination I tried that, same error light and       write protect error.              It runs in my mind with some SCSI drives on CMD HD dont you have to disconnect       the SCSI data cable or something to get it going?              I always just never jumpered anything else except getting the mech to spinup       and the CMD HD recognized the mech after the swap buttons and the       usual reset see if activity light stays off, if so letup on swap buttons,       press return then on the top if the LLFORMAT screen should show the       DEV0 LUN0 select that and its ready to go.              Any suggestions if it wouldnt damage it Injust want to throw it out the dang       door. :(       I spent all afternoon making faces at this mechanism.. among other bad words.              Terry Raymond              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: Agency HUB, Dunedin - New Zealand | Fido<>Usenet Gateway (3:770/3)    |
