    > Wow, that is amazing what they will do to get out. And Teamwork to top
    > it off.

JK> Yeah, it was too much.. Priscilla was a digger but Midnight would just
JK> lay on that darn fence til it was low enough for the two of them to get
JK> out. At the time we had a chain link fence, but parts of it had been
JK> replaced with some type of coated wire fencing and posts. It was easy
JK> for Midnight to do since it wasn't as rigid as the chain-link stuff
    JK> IIRC.

I picture a lot of High Fiving and laughter after the last one made it
    over. :)

JK> layer to keep the labs from jumping over . When we got this
JK> house in Slaterville Springs, we decided to spring for a 5 ft. fence.
JK> That seems to do the trick for jumpers - So far at least :)

I would think a 5 footer would serve You well, maybe only not stopping
an extremely determined to get out at all costs, athletic dog. Which You
seem to have ones that are happy to be home.

    > Not to mention the new neighbors have a
    > pitbull that the boys like to play with and constantly try to dig under
    > to get to her.

JK> No wonder they like to dig to get through :) :)

Yeah, she is a sweetheart too. She totally turned my impression on
Pitbulls. I will always remain cautious, but this particular little
girl is just a doll. She has another one that sometimes gets left there
at the house to stay weeks on end with her. Him? I watch real close, he
is not a happy camper. I actually hate going out to mow the lawn when he
is there. I keep my eye on him real good, as if he gets over the fence,
I have no doubt he would not be the friendly type pitbull.

JK> We got for some landscaping ties from Lowes at one point.. they worked

Landscaping ties? Forgive my Ignorance, what are they. I am really
desparate and am looking for anything that might help.

    > hacked them down after the ice melted. He then tore them all out, again
    > leaving the dirt on their side much lower causing same problem. That
    > leaves very little effort for small dogs to dig under and get out. :(

JK> Geez.. maybe some chicken wire might help.. not sure cost wise what
    JK> would be better..

That is something I have thought about. Yet not sure if it would work.

    > If he is like my boys, he is just waiting till the time is right ;)

JK> haha no kidding.. Sophie couldn't be bothered. She's like the top dog
JK> of all three here (Toby is the oldest and tallest, but Sophie just took
JK> over once she 'grew up' ). I think she figures she has to stick
JK> around to protect us or something because she never tries to escape :)

I don't think most dogs are planning to escape. Mine seem to just have
a desire to explore. Plus other neighbor dogs to play with. Problem is
with mine is, once they get out, they don't know how to get back and or
go around front, which I don't ( and it is probably a bad thing ) let
them go out front, as it is a busy street and not far from the house.
So they don't get out front and are not familiar with the dangers.

JK> Wow.. opening the crate :) That's incredible to me hahaha.. we never

I have never seen him do it, but I suspect he, maybe even by accident
pushes the tab straight out, and then it is just a matter of tapping it
to the right, with a couple slaps of the paw, and then it is Party Time!
   8)

JK> used crates with these three but I'll tell you I wish we had. Trying
JK> to get a decent night's sleep with lummoxes crowding you off the bed
JK> gets insane sometimes :) :) Thankfully, Sophie goes off on her own

I can imagine! :) but somehow I get the impression that You think it
is Your bed. ;) The dogs will disagree :) I can't imagine a bunch of
labs even on a king... Must be a trip! We can stand the pugs if they
have to get on the bed, 20+ lbs is big enough, but the problem is They
are Blanket hogs this time of the year!

JK> most nights and sleeps downstairs where she can keep her eye on the
JK> front door.. and Toby sleeps in my son's room.. but Indy sticks with us
    JK> and loves to S T R E T C H out on the bed. I have to kick him off
    JK> all the time :)

Indy will tell Santa about this! ;)

   Have a good one!
