RM> ...so the tiniest 'error' on the ballot, like using a
RM> check mark instead of an X, would have them tossing it if
RM> it was for Carney.. But, in a recount, there are several
RM> people keeping an eye on things and any ballot that makes
RM> it obvious who the person wanted to vote for is counted
   RM> rather than discarded.

AA>I didn't realize there were multiple other ways to mark a
     >ballot (apart from an X or a checkmark)

AA>..but the part about a completely filled circle seems to
     >contradict section 5.1.3 ..in other words, a completely
     >filled circle seems to be grounds for rejection.

Yes, I wasn't even sure if they accepted both a checkmark or X,
but some might do something like circle the name or something.

AA>> Apparently.. there are two other ridings getting recounts,
     >> according to the above article.

Yes, but both are already Liberal so those can't help Carney
to a Majority, possibly just lose him a seat or two.

AA> RM> The USA today greatly reduced the tariffs on China, and they
     > RM> lowered theirs in response for at least 90 days, which took
     > RM> a little of tension off of the markets since China sells the
     > RM> USA something like $600 Billion a year in goods.

AA>Yeah.. "reduced the tariffs" that shouldn't have been there in
     >the first place. And now Trump is trying to sound like there is
     > progress because "countries wanna make deals".

AA>I think this article explains what REALLY happened:

   AA>https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2025/5/13/why-did-the-us-and-
     >china-slash-tariffs-and-whats-next

Yes, I had a quick read through that and it's not a big surprise.
It's finally starting to dawn on Trump how much damage his
policies are doing in his own country. Hopefully something similar
will come about with Canada as well, although talk of a new North
American Free Trade deal might be a work-around.

Loblaws said today that they've had to increse the cost of over
1000 food items so far and that number will surpass 6000 items
in the next couple of months due to food tariffs..

The biggest danger there is that they may take advantage to
raise prices more than their costs go up.. It's like when Carbon
taxes got added to fuel a lot of grocery items went up by many
times what the increased fuel cost to move it would have justified.

RM> Trump also was given a $400 Million Jumbo Jet

AA>Yeah.. it's blatantly opposite what the Constitution says about
     >gifts from foreign countries. And even if he does get it
     >approved, the Air Force still has to work on it which could
     >take years not months.

Yes but it will be the kewlest plane in his whole library... B)
