   When I lived in Corpus Christi for a few months, they had a local BBS that   
   was a freenet and offered free Internet services (no idea how long THAT   
   lasted).  Guess they had really good phone lines down there, because I   
   almost consistently managed 48k or better.  I remember logging on to watch   
   a few shuttle launches, and I would redial a few times to catch better lines   
   if I didn't get the 48k to ensure good video... :)
