      > Hi Torbjorn,                     >>Thanks Rudi, appreciate your effort. Keep in mind though, that BBBS/D is a 16       >> bit program, and it will NOT run on any 64 bit Windows system, since they do       >>not support 16 bit software any more. Also Windows 7 and 8 in 32 bit versions       >>requires special configuration to run 16 bit software, since this is disabele       >> as standard. I have unfortunatly no way of testing, I haven't run 32 bit       >> Windows since Windows 7 was introduced.              > Yes i know all this... I never use 64 bit software's....              I understand. However I felt that this information should be included?              >Kim help me out with this that this was the only way for running doors... And       > have users here that play doors on my system ;)              I know this also. Have been discussing this with Kim way back in the very       early BBBS/NT days.              >I dont run it on a Windows7 but indeed i have test that also and it works when       > config it correctly.              It will work on Windows 7 32 bit version with 16bits NTVDM Application support       enabled (not default as far as I'm concerned).              > I run now BBBS/D and BBBS/NT as well in seperated windows screens for the Web       > Interface and Binkd i run BBBS/NT and only for telnet i run BBBS/D with the       > same configs and that works fine...              Smart...              > And my system is running on a VPS server that i rent with Windows XP on it.              Oh my.... haven't run XP for many years... I have my own Proliant server at       home :-)              >> I don't know if you virtualize a 32 bit Windows 7/8 and run it on a 64 bit       >> platform, if the NetFoss will work?       > This should works also i think i dont have test that...              Would be nice to know. :-)              >> Before running BBBS in a DOS version one must seriously first considder the       >> consequenses. :-)       > Kim told me there is no problem to run it the way i run when everything is       > config correcly... And like i told it works just perfect...              There is no problem for BBBS as such, however it really depends on the       hardware platform you run it on, and what else you are using it for. In my       configuration, the server has other tasks ( it does a lot of other stuff, the       BBS being the less important), and it runs 64 bits Windows Server 2008R2. I       really require the 64bit features for other stuff, the 4 gig limit on memory       in 32 bits is the biggest problem for me. :-)              Rudi, I honestly didn't intend to petronise you or critisise you in any way. I       just wanted to fill in the picture a bit, since you didn't mention the issues       I raised. Nothing more nothing less.              Keep up the good work. :-)              Rgds       Torbjørn              --- BBBS/NT v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Circle Of Protection (2:211/37)    |
