   I switch to user root on my ubuntu system, and use this command:

    "uid:bbs" &   
      
   ^ (that is all one line)   
      
   I use nodes 1, 2 and 3 for dialout lines here, that's why I start bbbsd with   
   nodes 4-15.   
      
   > But then BBBSD says this:   
      
   > "Can't bind to socket. Is service already running? Using ports below 1024   
   > require root access, see uid: paramenter"   
      
   Right... you need to run that as root.  You can user bbbs to the sudo group.
