   BZ on Ubuntu 10.4: system() call not wor
   11 Nov 10 22:30:20

   Hi there,

   >I've just updated my Linux box to Ubuntu 10.4 server and now it looks like the
   > system() call of the BZ scripting language no longer seems to work. What do I
   > do? Well, I've added a few lines to the opendoor.bz script like this:

   > case 10:{
   > logdoor(8);
   > system("ls -la /dev",1,0);
   > break;

   }

   I figure just a bad cut and paste had you leave out the last "}" there

   > but now everytime I call this door option, I do not get any screen output.

   On my Ubuntu 9.10, your code above returns me right to the bbs.. no display..
   Here's an example of a system command that I use that does work:

   system("./doors/topdoor -t Timeport",1,0);

   without the ./path/binary etc. it didn't work.. maybe because I haven't set
   the path for bbbs on this box yet..

   This is the entire block for the timeport door:

   case 9:{
         logdoor(7);
         make_doorsys(sprintf("./timeport/door%u.sys",bv_nodenumber));
         system(sprintf("./timeport/timeport N%u",bv_nodenumber),1,0);
         system("./doors/topdoor -t Timeport",1,0); //create bull for top door
         break;
         }

   >I
   > also tried this system() call with the nethack command, since this is what I
   > originally wanted to do. Now, nethack complainst that it has to be run from
   >within a terminal in order to work. Befor the update of my Linux box, this was
   > not an issue. Can someone give me a hint on how to get my system call to work
   > again (except for downgrading my system).

   Library problems, maybe? I've had to install a few of them since switching to
   this 64 bit Dell system this month. It's the same version of Ubuntu pretty
   much (9.10), but libraries I was able to install on my old 32bit athlon for
   the doors I run, like these two:

   libstdc++5_3.3.6-18_i386.deb
   libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2_2.95.4-27_i386.deb

   wouldn't install.. (32bit).

   I was able to find libstc++5 on a ubuntu repostory but no luck with
   libstc++2.10-glibc2.2_2.95.4-27 yet.. so over here, ambroshia won't run.. yet..

   Probably not the help you were looking for, but hopefully it will help some :)

   Take care,
   Janis
