   Hi Niels,

   >>bbbs bogus r/w checks for new messages and packs it according to your setup
   >> archivers (external.bbb archiver section)

   > Ah, I already set up bbbs bogus a/r/w through the crontab of my bbbs user.

   Sounds good.

   >> You can run bbbs's built in binkp mailer. You can call it like this in a
   >> script with all the other daemons, see the asterisks for the section below
   >> that is for the binkp mailer:

   > Heh, now that you mention it, I found the part in the documentation of bbbsd
   > regarding "binkp" and rawd. That was the part I missed when starting the
   >daemon. Do I need to do node remapping for tcp/ip nodes? Or is this handled by
   > the entries in the compiled nodelist?

You need to use the [node_remap] section to dial out with your dialout node
for the tcpip nodes, like the following:

This example is used for 1:393/68:

   ,1:393/68.0,Positronium,Lafayette_LA,Ben_Ritchey,cmech.dynip.com,300,CM,XX,BND

I usually copy the line from the nodelist, add the "," and .0, etc. as above.

node2 over here is my dialout node, so in ./bcfg4 2, I set the this up to dial
   out:

   bcfg4 2 ->Local:General->   OK poll flags: (BND|IP|ITX)

That way it will dial out to a node with any one of those flags set in the
   [node remap] section.

   >> You don't have to run all of bbbs's daemons of course, I don't run them all
   >> .

   >I plan to run just fidonet and maybe a few selected qwk networks. None of that
   > modern 'web' stuff everyone is going bananas about these days .

   Ok :)

   > I purchased a 2+5 node license back in 2009, but at that time the first
   >incarnation of my little bbs was just finished so I never bothered to acutally
   >use bbbs. But earlier this year I got in touch with my zone coordinator and go
   >my first node address ever. And with fidonet at hand I think bbbs is the bette
   > choice. And I do all of this just for fun ...

   Sounds good :)

   >>I also run BinkD, Dimi Malof's binkp mailer on the standard binkp port (24554
   >>I use a java program I wrote to move some people's traffic to my binkd/filebo
   >> directory for those nodes.

   > Got that installed and set up for backup purposes. But its not running right
   >now. See, now that I got the internal binkd server running, things looke good.
   >I was able to query aeafix on my uplink node and the reply came in as expected

   Great, good progress.

   >One more question: is it possible to change the polling interval of the daemon
   > or is this a static setting?

I have a number of downlinks set to Crash since that's the way they prefer
it... i.e., as soon as mail comes in, those crash nodes get it. You can
probably set up events in the event-manager for a timed schedule...

That's also in ./bcfg4 (node number) Local: Events

   Take care,
   Janis
