Hi! Kurt,              In a message to All you wrote:               KW> @TID: SBBSecho 2.23-Win32 r1.224 Oct 17 2013 MSC 1600               KW> Is anyone here?              You're not being ignored. :)               KW> I'd love to see your BBS batch files, if your BBS/mailer/utils are        KW> batch file driven.              Most of my primary Fido system is still served by batch files but you wouldn't       want to see most of them, as they're quite convoluted. Even I have trouble       understanding how the bulk of them used to/still do work. I have to stop &       read my remarks occasionally to grasp how they do things. :)              In a nutshell, my batches rely on having a single batch to create a common       environment used by most (nearly all) other batches or even the (Win9x) DOS       command-line. Other batch scripts fall into these general categories:              * one used to start Radius initially (and then exits);              * one used by a Radius event to stop itself and start maintenance (which       overwatches maint and re-starts Radius when finished);              * a tosser job, to process mail and/or TIC-attached files;              * the maintenance task which maintains the messagebase, posts logfiles to a       local echo and then archives the logfiles to a daily ARJ and then a monthly       ARJ; and,              * other ad-hoc scripts to start/stop the IP daemon or a POTS node, send mail,       create config files on-the-fly (most of which have Windows icon-based menu       shortcuts).              There are other scripts. Think of a problem and I may have a (close) batch       solution for you. ;-)               KW> I have a Windows-based BBS, and don't have to pass calls from a mailer        KW> to a BBS to a utility.              Same here since about mid-2002, when I started running Argus and then Radius       later in 2003/2004. Since they are their own telnet server, they are capable       of spawning BBS instances (Mystic/W32) without needing any other server       software or going through errorlevel hell.               KW> I'm looking at setting up a "retro" bbs environment and will need to        KW> drive everything from a batch file with errorlevels, etc.              I have some BBS batch file examples from other Fido systems collected over the       years. If you would like me to post them, say so. I can't speak for them;       only quote them.               KW> My batch file skillz are so rusty that I'd love to see some current        KW> examples.              Most of mine are still used, though I don't use a BBS batch per se. I can       offer other util-type examples for:              * a simple TIC file processor (yes, in BATch!);              * an SRIF-type FREQ handler (yes, in BATch!)(for Windows-based binkD or       Argus/Radius); and/or,              * a FREQ-able files list generator for Binkley and (the above) SRIF system.              All my batch scripts use a small collection from the BFDS repository. Look       for Ben's postings!              Cheers,       Paul.              ... If this were an actual tagline, it would be funny.       --- Paul's Win98SE VirtualBox        * Origin: Quinn's Post - Maryborough, Queensland, OZ (3:640/384)    |
