Space Weather News for Oct. 20, 2016       http://spaceweather.com       https://www.facebook.com/spaceweatherdotcom               METEORS FROM HALLEY'S COMET: Earth has entered a stream of debris from       Halley's Comet, source of the annual Orionid meteor shower. Forecasters       expect the shower to peak during the night of Oct. 20-21 with as many as 10-20       meteors per hour. Glare from tonight's gibbous Moon will mute the display,       but not completely eliminate it as NASA cameras are observing some Orionid       fireballs bright enough to be seen in the moonlight. Visit Spaceweather.com       for observing tips and more information.               http://spaceweather.com/images2016/20oct16/skymap.png?PHPSESSID=d2r9552pscaj0        This sky map shows the location of the Orionid radiant near the shoulder of       the constellation Orion. Unfortunately the gibbous Moon is there, too. Lunar       glare will wipe out all but the brightest Orionids this year.                       Regards,               Roger              --- DB 3.99 + W10 (1607)        * Origin: NCS BBS - Houma, LoUiSiAna (1:3828/7)    |
