   To answer Sue’s original question:  At one time, one could sort USENET   
   posts by date using Google Groups as a USENET reader. To my knowledge,   
   that no longer can be done, at least not directly.

   , you can select:   
   View:   “Topic list” or “Topic summary”   
   Sort by:   “Latest message” or “First message”   
   Sorting by “Latest message” or “First message” both produce a reverse   
   chronological listing.   
   However, if you select “About this group” on the far right (   
   http://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated/about   
   ), you will see a count of posts by month and year. These counts are   
   linked to that month's posts.
