   If these stories are in print (book, magazine, comics) then no one has   
   to be replaced.   
      
   If these stories are filmed, well... enough time has passed that the   
   aging of the actors would be noticeable.  Moreso with Pat than Andreas   
   (if he were still with us) because of all of the makeup FX for Andreas'   
   character.
