   And it is hard to say who would insist upon that distinction more   
   passionately - the New Yorkers or the New Englanders.     
   Not that New Yorkers would be any more eager to be lumped in with the   
   mid-Atlantic states.  What lies between the Connecticut river and the   
   Hudson is a region unto itself.
