   The producers of Pioneers have an odd way of looking at things, to put
   it mildly. The first series of episodes had much the same kind of
   scattershot history and peculiar emphases.

   I'd not heard of Science Fiction Theater until you mentioned it (a bit
   before my viewing memory, and never available since as far as I can
   tell). I looked it up on IMdB, and it looks like they were indeed
   trying to do something interesting--any ideas on the quality of it?

   As a bit of personal history, Outer Limits was one of the first shows I
   have vivid memories of watching first run (at the age of 7!).

   Don't misunderstand my original post--I knew going in that this was
   going to be ST, LiS and TZ. I was simply surprised that there were no
   name checks of any prior shows (Outer Limits and, now, SF Theater);
   likewise, no name checks of successors. I've always hoped that the
   Pioneers series would provide a more coherent context for their
   selections, but I guess that's just wishful thinking.

   I was never sure if the pioneers were the shows or the creators, and I
   don't know if the producers of the series are clear on that, either.

   Of course, I will probably be watching the other episodes...
