   No. The brainwashing wasn't a trapdoor. The brainwashing was a long   
   term plot. Ity was just usable as a trapdoor in this case.   
   Trigger is a writer's term for something that allows later story to be   
   told. At least that's what I was taught at Uni.   
   JMS doesn't use it differently.
