I was surprised to find that the accent dividing line between north and
south follows Rt. 40 (the old national Road) right through Columbus, OH.
Southern Ohioans pronounce the state's name Uh-Hi-Ah, while the
northern part of the state pronounces it Oh-Hi-Oh.

This has blurred over the years with the increased mobility of the
population. Probably for the same reasons the "line" Duggy talked about
   has faded.
