Airlines are worried about the consequences of abolishing winter time.       According to industry associations IATA, Airlines4Europe and IATA, this       creates chaos in the schedules for passenger and cargo flights.               The discussion about summer and winter time is a hot topic at the annual       meeting, which will be held this week in Edinburgh. The ERA fears, just like       fellow organizations, that the abolition of winter time creates an       organizational nightmare.               Flight planning is currently tuned worldwide to different time zones. A system       of summer and winter time is not used all over the world, but that is being       worked around. The aviation sector fears that by changing the current system,       various connections between international and regional flights will be       jeopardized.               Should the abolition of the winter season become reality, then the aviation       organizations will require a minimum of eighteen months to adjust. Preferably,       the fixing of daylight saving time takes place only with effect from the       summer season of 2021.              --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR33        * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854)    |
