|    Russian troops destroy the Antonov-225 '    |
|    27 Feb 22 22:20:49    |
MSGID: 2:292/854 1b164c1a       TZUTC: 0100        The Antonov An-225, the largest aircraft in the world, was destroyed by the       war in Ukraine. Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs, confirmed this on       Sunday afternoon. Only one example of the six-engined aircraft existed.               The An-225 was built by the then Soviet Union, partly to transport the Buran,       the counterpart of the American space shuttle. The aircraft was in service       with Antonov Airlines after the fall of the Iron Curtain and was stationed at       Gostomel Airport near Kiev, as were air giants such as the An-124. The       aircraft was used, among other things, to transport exceptionally large loads       for the oil and gas industry, the aerospace sector and other clients.               A second An-225 was partly completed, but ultimately never flew.               "Russia may have destroyed our Mriya (nickname of the An-225, which means       'dream'), but they can never destroy our dream of a strong, free and       democratic European state. We will be victorious!" said Kuleba.               Ukraine, so the government said, is determined to rebuild the An-225.              --- DB4 - 20220222        * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854)       SEEN-BY: 1/123 15/0 80/1 90/1 105/81 106/201 120/340 123/131 129/305       SEEN-BY: 129/330 331 153/7715 218/700 221/1 226/30 229/110 317 400       SEEN-BY: 229/424 426 428 664 700 240/5832 280/464 282/1038 292/854       SEEN-BY: 292/8125 301/1 317/3 320/219 322/757 335/364 342/200 396/45       SEEN-BY: 460/58 633/280 712/848       PATH: 292/854 229/426           |
