A shared future for Boeing and Embraer seems further away than ever, now that   
   a federal court in Brazil has stricken down a proposed cooperation. The two   
   aircraft builders want to enter the market together, as a counterweight to   
   Airbus and Bombardier.   
       
   After Airbus acquired Bombardier's CSeries program and launched the A220   
   series, Boeing and Embraer wanted to do the same by selling the Embraer   
   regional jets in close collaboration with Boeing.   
       
   Brazilian trade unions, the government and now also a federal court see   
   nothing in the proposed plans, which were previously weakened from a merger to   
   a joint venture.   
       
   Boeing and Embraer can still appeal the decision.
