JH> I think some of the plastic housings are softer. I noticed this on a       JH> honda accord that I bought in 2002. My oldest daughter wacked the front       JH> driver's side trying to merge onto 695 from York Road in Towson. Needless       JH> to say, she didn't see the pickup truck in front of her that was stopped.       JH> Well the body shop put a new headlight bucket on and then a couple of       JH> years later I noticed one was clear and the other was almost frosted. I       JH> just think it's from being sandblasted and oxidation. My VW Gti had some       JH> really hard plastic that looked like glass, much better product. It will       JH> be interesting to see how the Ford lights hold up. I will get a second       JH> set when I do my HID retrofit so I can take my time and not have to have       JH> the car apart too long. You have to take off the front bumper to get the       JH> headlight buckets off on the Escapes.              I will say that the 3M kit for headlight restorations does work. I have used       it several times on various vehicles. I never had to use the kit on my Monte       Carlo, as the lights look as good now as they did when I bought it.               I have seen the bad looking headlights mostly on Fords and some older Hondas.       It must be cheaper plastic or something.               The "repair" kit basically sands off the oxidized layer and restores the       clarity using different grit sandpaper and buffing solutions.              - Mark              --- WWIVToss v.1.50         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)    |
