   It is a V6 3.4L.  That is the engine in the 2002 Monte Carlo LS models.  The   
   SS is a V6 3.8L.  When I bought mine, I couldn't justify the gas mileage   
   difference between the two, so I went with the LS.  I have the sports package,   
   so it looks very much like an SS.

   Those can be a real pain.  I had to removed several hoses when replacing my   
   daughter's water pump.  Using a flexable hose clamp tool was a MUST for that   
   job.  Some of those clamps were in impossible places to reach without that   
   tool.
