MH> JH> I had a 1969 Firebird 400 HO 4 speed. I dropped a 350 LT1 into it and       MH> had       MH> JH> an Edelbrock torquer intake with 650 Holly 4bbl, hooker headers and       MH> JH> thrush mufflers :) Wonderful car! The Chevy smallblock was much       MH> lighter       MH> JH> than the goat engine.       MH>        MH> What did you end up doing with that car? It would be nice to have a       MH> spare "project" car, but my 2002 Monte Carlo is both my project car and       MH> my daily driver. :)                     Well it was 1974 and Iran did their oil embargo. There were lines at all the       gas stations and this is when we saw petro go over $1.00 per gallon. Believe       me, I used to fill up my tank with about $10.00 so... I thought VW bugs were       cool so I bought one. I ended up modding it too and then got a Porsche 914       which was a mid engine car with a 2 litre flat, aircooled engine. I lowered       the 914 and put wider tires on it. Then for the next 20 years I was raising a       family and you know how that is.               I did the VW gti over the last two years. Impressive car with the Audi 2L       motor, cast iron block, aluminum head, chain driven cams with the intercooled       turbo. Just uploaded software to the ECU and upped the HP to 250 and that is       before I got into the intake and exhaust. I could just hit the gas pedal and       smoke the front tires. My favorite race was against a Caddy CTS, I really       pissed off the driver. The top end was phenomenal but I would always succumb       to traction issues on the bottom end, especially with Subaru WRXs with their       allwheel drive.                      --- WWIVToss v.1.50         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)    |
