RW> The ignition key for that car has a RF chip in it that must talk to the       RW> RFI chip onboard the car. If the resistor or any contacts are dirty or not making contact,       RW> you can't start the car.       RW>        RW> There must be a way to disable the system so this problem won't happen.              We would be totally happy if there is a way to completely disable the security       system. From my light scanning on the Internet months ago, people were saying       there is no way to disable it. I can't verify it one way or the other.              RW> Next time I get to the shop, I'll use the online reference on their       RW> computer and see if there's a fix...can't promise anything.              That would be great, I appreciate that!               One more note on the subject. About 6 months ago, my daughter had started her       car, started driving down oour neighborhood street and the car went dead. She       was unable to restart it.               I reminded her of the trick of using the keyfob to lock/unlock the car and       then try to start it again. That worked, and it started right up.              What seems to have happened that time, was the security system was thinking       the car was stolen and cutting the gas off to it. Very irritating when it       doesn't work properly. There seems to be too much play in the ignition, so it       is probably throwing something off.              The best solution - if possible - is to disable the damn security system.              - Mark              --- WWIVToss v.1.50         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)    |
