RW> The car nuts in California tried to get their old cars exempted too, but       RW> the law says that they must have the emissions controls on it and in       RW> working order. If you're stopped by law enforcement, they have the right       RW> to inspect your emissions equipment (not to mention safety items) and       RW> impound your vehicle if it is found to not be compliant.              What about the older cars that were made before emmissions? Or restored       classics?              RW> I feel the same way, but also realize that I don't own or maintain the       RW> roads I drive on, so I comply with whatever they require to do so. Unless       RW> there's a loophole, of course.              There are people that would drive around forever with the check engine light       on if it wasn't for the emissions testing here.               Personally, I wouldn't be one of them because I know that you are probably       getting horrible gas mileage if one of your sensors is not working properly or       you have an emissions problem. Not to mention possible damage to the engine.        - Mark              --- WWIVToss v.1.50         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)    |
