I had to grocery-up there on Friday and made a point of looking at prices.
I was surprised, as a quart is now priced at $6.75 and the 5 gal jug at
   $24.50...

TW> I jsut checked the Wal-Mart Web site for Moile 1 and it saus "Price
TW> May Vary" with none listed

As is the case above. There's probably a small difference in shipping to
   CA vs TX...

TW> Even with that here I have almost never found something cheaper

I used to have them change my oil, but stopped that practice when the oil
   change price went over $36...

TW> Except for the special Loss Leader sales some stores hold once in a

We get a small discount from O'Reilly's at my friend's shop, but I don't
take advantage of it because Wal-Mart is still cheaper.

RW>> The Wal-Mart here does carry the 5 quart jugs and they're less than

   I'll bet that's been a while. I don't remember it.

TW> And I see that Valvoline is now selling "Green"(50% Recycled) Oil
TW> called "Valvoline NEXTgen". It even comes in a Green Bottle,

There's nothing wrong with using that oil, as long as they do a good job
of cleaning and refurbishing the additives. I'd use it in a high
   mileage/oil consuming car for sure.
