   Wel the "solid" shift is a sign of LESS WEAR o nthre Transmission   
   becasue of less overlap. THAT is good Particularly 1-2 shift because one   
   is typically acellerating hard at that point.   
   teh Wifes Subaru with 280,000 plus miles still is going strong with the   
   origional Auto Transmission becasue of the "Firmer" than typical shifts   
   on most cars.   
   The wife at first complained for a little while but finally got used to   
   it.
