RW> So you just happened to have a relay that could handle the amps, which       RW> caused the connector to burn instead.              That was the second fan relay I have installed in the Durango. The original       relay caused the "high fan" setting to stop working. They apparently       re-designed the relays ( probably allowing higher amps) which then causes the       connector and wires to melt vs. failing the relay. Most people I saw with       this problem replaced the fan motor at the same time to make sure that wasn't       why it was pulling too many amps. It also mentioned that in the blower relay       instructions. That's why I decided to go ahead and swap it all.              RW> Luckily it seems, there are a lot of Durangos and Dakotas in the scrap       RW> yards.              I saw many late 90 model Durangos at the junk yard, but they don't have the       fan relay/blower motor setup like our particular 2001. We eventually found       just one Durango that had the setup like ours and I was able to get cut the       wires to get the connector.              - Mark              --- WWIVToss v.1.50         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)    |
