It's a 1968 Mustang. She bought       it new and babied it for the last fifty years or so. She said she stopped       driving it only a year or two ago, but I have a feeling her 97 year old memory       may be not entirely accurate, heh. I know she was still driving at 93, so at       worst I'll assume it has been sitting for four years.              It's kept in a garage thankfully. Once I take possession, what do you think       would be a good plan of action for getting it back on the road? I figure drain       and replace fuel tank, replace fuel lines, fuel pump, tires, disassemble and       inspect all the brakes (probably four wheel drum... sigh), new fluids/filters.        What else might I be forgetting?              My friend's car is off the road with a bad water pump, so I'm gonna snatch her       tag to throw on the Mustang so AAA will tow it. I figure I don't want to start       it with the crappy years old gas in it, don't wanna foul up the carb unless       perhaps I'm being too paranoid there and it won't matter? I also figure rather       than drive an unproven vehicle that has been off the road for years the 230       mile trip home, probably safer to just tow it anyway.               I'm not much of a mechanic, so I figured I'd ask the community what they feel       would be a good list of things to check :)       --- SBBSecho 3.20-Win32        * Origin: Diamond Mine Online BBS - bbs.dmine.net:24 (1:275/89)       SEEN-BY: 4/0 80/1 88/0 90/0 1 92/1 105/81 106/201 116/5 124/5016 128/260       SEEN-BY: 129/305 134/100 135/220 225 138/142 146 153/135 143 148 149       SEEN-BY: 153/151 757 802 7715 154/10 30 203/0 218/700 221/0 6 226/30       SEEN-BY: 227/114 229/110 112 113 206 307 317 400 426 428 470 664 700       SEEN-BY: 240/1120 261/38 266/512 275/89 100 1000 280/464 5003 282/1038       SEEN-BY: 291/111 292/854 8125 301/1 320/219 322/757 341/66 200 234       SEEN-BY: 342/11 200 396/45 423/120 460/58 467/888 633/280 712/848       SEEN-BY: 712/1321 770/1 900/0 100 102 106 108 902/0 7 10 19 25 26       SEEN-BY: 902/27 100 3634/12 5020/400 5075/35       PATH: 275/89 1000 153/7715 757 280/464 341/66 902/26 90/1 229/426           |
