You've pretty much hit the nail on the head for what I'm terrified about
finding out as soon as I go under my Durango with the tools or (more likely)
hire someone else to do it since I don't have a garage or even a rental place
that I can use to get ahold of all that I need for it.
There are sounds of horror and death-to-come coming from underneath it. A
giant ker-chunk coming as a piece of metal slides every time I go from a stop
to forward again. There are grinding crunches as I turn the wheels. You can
tell that the vehicle is riding on absolutely no working suspension at all. A
rock in the road can toss the wheel quite a ways too far.
The last time that I had a vehicle in this bad of condition, the man who took
it apart and fixed some bits told me to never, EVER let it get that bad again
(not that I'd financially had a choice at that point). He said it was going to
kill somebody, especially if things went out at highway speeds.
On this one, it's worse. I can hear ball joints crunching and squeaking, all
of the suspension is shit, and I'm guessing that plenty of other bits will need
to be fixed down there when everything down to the hubs are off. I'm totally
not looking forward to it. If only I knew some people around here like I did
in NoDak that would be willing to take a few cases of beer and let me assist
for a day on the whole thing. *sigh*
Right now I'm just hoping I can get enough cash soon enough to maybe just get
a whole new vehicle and trade that one in or something. There's a damn
whistling coming from the engine (when it's not at high speed) that you can
   hear, as well.
     Problems... I got 'em!
