RN>I have a friend with a 2002 (or thereabouts) Pontiac, She is afraid to turn       RN>the engine off when she goes anywhere because of the following:              RN>1. The engine only starts on the 2nd attempt       RN>2. When going somewhere, and shutting the engine off, the car has to sit for       RN>about 30 minutes before the engine can be restarted.              RN>This is a new one on me. We originally thought it might have something to d       RN>with the chip in the ignition key, but that didn't solve the problem.              Sounds like a classis case of "Heat Soak" to me.either there is a leaky       injector or a bac check valve i nthe Fule system that lets the pressure       drop off and the engine hear boild the low pressure gasoling causing the       equilivent of the old "Vapor lock. SO until the engine cools down it       does not recieve enough liquid fuel to start.       There is a port o nthe fule system where a pressure gauge can be       installed and one can do a leak down test.       Recomendations vary but the pressure should not leak down faster then 2       PSI per 5 seconds. It typically should be much less than that.       ---        þ SLMR 2.1a þ Typo Tom Strkes Again        * Origin: Fidonet Since 1991 Join Us: www.DocsPlace.org (1:123/140)    |
