   I'm not 100% sure, but have heard that there are high and low pressure sensors   
   that "protect" the compressor from burning up by shutting it off if it thinks   
   there is low R134a in the system.     
      
   My best guess would be either it is low on R134a (but if it is blowing cold,   
   that probably isn't the case), or one of the sensors is thinking it is low and   
   cycling it.  It can also be a slight clog in the system causing too much   
   pressure.
