MH>Back when I drove my 80' Malibu, I remember several times getting off work o       MH>to have it not start. Most of the time it would not only be cold, but raini       MH>too.              MH>Laying under the car in work cloths using a pipe to smack the starter was lo       MH>of fun. After the third time this happened, I decided to replace it in the       MH>cold instead of waiting for a nice warm day.              I had a similar Starter o na 1971 VW Square back. At times the starter       woudl niot wrok and crawling under the car and bridging the solenoid       woulr gwet it to work for a while. Even though the car was uinder the       Warranty the VW Dealer woudl do nothing for me because it wroked whn       they tried it. When it failed on a trip. Luckly in a mini mall with a       Auto parts Store I decided to Change the starter. Only problem is it was       during a wind strom and sand was blowing everywhere. Never had that       problem again       That job was not as bad as changing a 1951 Ford Three speed tranny in a       gravel parking lot with no rug to lay on. :-)       ---        þ SLMR 2.1a þ 0        * Origin: Fidonet Since 1991 And Still Here.
