TW> And with a great deal of Disipline it can really pay off. Because of a       TW> failed first marraige I did not get into buying a home until my middle       TW> 40's       TW> Thinking ahead we bit the bullet and paid off the 30 year Homeloan in 15       TW> years which matched my Retirement in 1991.       TW> We did it by cutting back to only the bare necisities and by driving       TW> junk cars. We have never owned and during those years pisked out       TW> transportation from the Consumer Reports WORST USED CAR BUY, Becasue       TW> they were cheaper. We also folowed a disipline of "Earn what you Spend       TW> and ONLY SPEND what you earn". So since I have retired we have never       TW> made a loan payment for anything.              Planning in advance is great, provided life doesn't throw you any curve balls.       My previous home would have been paid off last year.              I had a 15 year mortgage on it, but like you, a failed marriage threw me back       financially a bit. I have been re-married for 7 years, and back in a 30 year       mortgage on a much larger home. Between accelerated mortgage payments and       additional payments each month, it is basically going to be a 20 year loan.               I keep cars forever. When I buy a new car, I keep it.               We need people that think like us in politics. We have not seen fiscal       responsibility in along time!              - Mark              --- WWIVToss v.1.50         * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0)    |
