I        MH> used to say the layer of crud on it was helping preserve the paint.              Just the opposite from my perspective. That dirt will crud up the paint,       requiring a cleaner to make it shine again. The Z has been in the garage       gathering dust. I use a 'California Duster' to keep most of it off, but       the last wax job has accumulated dust to the extent that it now clings to       the paint and the duster can't remove it. Time for a good 'hand wash' and       wax...Since it has been sitting outside in the Texas sunshine since       January, that will make the cleaning job that much harder. Even the       touchless car wash couldn't cut it.               MH> The past few years, I have actually waxed my car twice. Being that        MH> my car is 10 years old, I have waxed it a total of (2) times.              8^) When I bought the Z in 2001, it got a wash job every week. A wax job       about once a month. At the time, I used Mother's Wax and a Mother's       Showcar spray to keep it shiney...that's all gone now, but I still have       the Mother's...               MH> I use that Nu-Finish stuff (you can get it at Walmart). It works        MH> fantastic.              Yuc! I used that on my Silverado and thought it sucked, big time.       Fortunately, that was over a year ago and it is gone now. I threw the       Nu-Finish bottle in the trash after using it the first and last time.               MH> What I really like about it is the fact that it is said to        MH> be a "Once a year car polish". It does last a good long time. I        MH> would say more like 3/4 of a year long, however.              If you got any on your black bumper parts, you can tell when that stuff is       gone just by looking. If the stain it leaves is gone, the likelyhood of       what you applied to the paint will be too. At least Mother's can be washed       off if you scrub long and hard enough. Not so with Nu-Finish.               MH> There were people at my work that actually thought I bought a new car        MH> when they saw it shining for the first time.              There has to be a touchless car wash in your area. Run it through once a       week and it'll stay that way, for a while.                      R\%/itt                     --- Twit(t) Filter v2.1 (C) 2000-10        * Origin: Roiz Flying \A/ Service * South Texas * USA * (1:387/22)    |
