In the case here, it is the regular question mark excepy black on a white       background and is used only for characters that cannot be displayed. It has       nothing to do with conversion and the original character code is unaffected.        I see your quote of the cp437 characters I sent were retained and that should       have been the same when quoting back the utf-8 emoticons. I know for a fact       that both QEdit and uemacs, which are both DOS based old school 16-bit       editors, can handle this just fine.              Speaking of upgrades, I see below in the tearline that ye olde raspi needs to       be brought up to speed.
