   Yes it does.  Imagine that ... an editor can actually display ascii text   
   without screwing up lines.  Anyhow your quote looks the same as I see it both   
   in vim as well as 'cat'ting it to a linux terminal.  However both the ansi and   
   ascii versions both 'cat' the same to a linux terminal without the need for an   
   editor getting in the way to fsck things up.
