   Last time I ran dosemu was around 1997-ish with FreeDOS on a 486 with the   
   latest Slackware distribution of the time.  If I recall correctly there were   
   many issues with hardware especially an external serial modem I was using at   
   the time ... I believe it was a Motorola but I can't recall the model at the   
   moment.  The BBS was a DOS based Maximus.   
    No doorgames but it did have Fidonet echoareas.   
      
   Browsing the dosemu git site I notice the latest update appears to be 2013.    
   However it does compile using;

   I am missing a few of the suggested dependencies for running dosemu but they   
   should be no problem to add if indeed it was desirable to do so. I think   
   FreeDOS is still available but I haven't checked in around a decade or so.  I   
   am surprised dosemu actually compiled on this machine.
