   Hey Nancy!

NB> Sounds like a good place to stay, then...

   Better than most methinks.

NB> You at least understand the workings well enough

I built the two servers that are currently doing all the work or at least one
of them. The other - the one I am typing this reply on - is more of my
plaything where I am free to experiment which is something I enjoy doing. "99
Bottles of Beer" lives on here.

NB> I do have a very basic cell phone

I still have a landline but have been tempted by basic cell service in the
past. So far there really hasn't been a need but I do see the advantage of
them. However I don't like the teeny-tiny displays that I cannot read without
coke bottle type glasses. Also my fingers are too fat for the itsy-bitsy
keypad dealies. My regular phone is much more of what I require of a phone.

NB> anything else other than talk and text

Some of the people here watch movies on their so-called smartphones. Near as
I can tell the small machine I turned into their access point to the outside
world is where all the smart comes from. Without it they just have phones.
The service from the usual providers is extremely lousy and far too expensive
although I do understand why. Not enough customers out this way to make it
commercially viable. Not being in the business and knowing the basics is
where I come in. Also I am very curious which helps. However if and when
something breaks down it is unlikely to get replaced as far as the wireless
end of things goes. I personally don't have much use for it and nobody here
is interested in getting anything local working on it so I really don't have
any incentive. Most of what is out there in cyberspace is worthless to me and
repeating it on wireless is pointless and not worth the additional costs.

   Life is good,
   Maurice
