   If possible try to find a V92 Modem which also has the newer better V44   
   DataCompression and OnLine Error Correction communication protocols,

   No, I am only running UniCorn BBS via POTS and a ZyXEL Elite 2864L V34   
   data-/Fax-modem, but no tcp/ip.   
   On my RiscOS Point system I have a Bullet E-Tech E56RVP+ V90 analogue modem.   
   On that system I also run !ROSBink for tcp/ip connections.
