   * An ongoing debate between Ed Vance and BEN RITCHEY rages on ...

    EV> I dumped McAfee Security Suite but kept their SiteAdvisor for Firefox.

   Same here {g}

    EV> I don't see any setting I can change to stop Flash asking for a update
    EV> every hour at 42 minutes past each hour. Do you have any ideas?

   Unless it autoadds a Scheduled Task or an obviously out of place service you
   can mod/delete, nada for me :(

    EV> Another thing I have been getting FortKnox pop ups about sometimes is

   Dunno about FortKnox, but it sounds very astute {chuckle}

    EV> I am still afraid something is in my XP box that even Avast! free
    EV> hasn't found, what do you think? Am I overly paraniod? Thanks!

   I did some testing awhile back using most of the leading AV products and each
   one seemed to find unique problems the others did not {shrug} so it's always a
   real possibility something is missed but finding out what it is is often a
   very elusive task {chuckle} but sounds like you're on top of it. You might try
   GRC.com as he has some Netbios security info somewhere IIRC.

   The easiest way for something to assert itself within Windows is to quietly
   install itself as a service, so you might also look thru running services when
   you're problems pop up. If they persist, Netmail me and I may be able to
   assist further though my expertise with firewalls is limited ...
